Cultural Tradition with a Dash of Wabi Sabi

Eat healthier.

Get more exercise.

Lose weight.

Learn a language.

Save more money.

(Make more money!)

Master a new skill.

Spend quality time with friends and family.

Sound familiar?

Yes, it’s that time of year again. A transition to a new annual chapter. A time to turn the page. Start fresh. And make a New Year’s resolution or two . . . or three—rising to the challenge of self-improvement and accomplishing new goals.

These days, the percentage of people making New Year’s resolutions seems to be steadily declining. And the percentage of those keeping their resolutions dives even lower.

I admit to being in this latter category. Resolutions made. Resolutions broken (usually by sometime in January).

So why not take a different tack? Why not embrace wabi sabi?
{"id":32974,"date":"2019-01-02T03:00:22","date_gmt":"2019-01-02T11:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oh-i-see.com\/blog\/?p=32974"},"modified":"2021-07-21T12:24:43","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T19:24:43","slug":"whats-in-the-art-of-new-years-resolutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oh-i-see.com\/blog\/whats-in-the-art-of-new-years-resolutions\/","title":{"rendered":"What’s in the Art of New Year’s Resolutions?"},"content":{"rendered":"
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33018\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33018\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oh-i-see.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/iStock-884374556-e1546299980306.jpg\" alt=\"Happy new year hat on weathered boards, showing the cultural traditions of Japanese wabi sabi and lending a theme for New Year's resolutions.
